Something to talk about, a Story to tell...

The Outcome, if you so choose it.

This is a true story. For what that’s worth, and what difference that makes, is anyone’s guess.

The World is a strange place, populated mostly by strangers and strange people.

This is not a perfect world. It is the world we have – often devoid of reason and empathy; a world without solidarity; an unfair, often cruel world.

It is not a perfect world, but it is the world we have.

Before, I launch into my story, some perspective might be important. The thoughts that follow are mine and mine alone. I would not dare speak for anyone else.

Starlight (A Serialized Novella): Part One - The Lost and Damned

The stars of life shine
As bright as supernovas
As dark as black holes
– Technicolor Dreams

Chapter 1 – The Lost and Damned

Helicopters fly
In single file across a
Dream’s barren landscapes
– Technicolor Dreams

In the austere, almost sterile main library in the DATUS Space Cadet Academy, Anthony Van Neuzer sat, preparing diligently for his COMPS Exams. A hum of activity buzzed around him, faceless fellow Cadets and support workers on the floating space ship they all called home, flittered back and forth; doing everything and nothing, simultaneously, and at the same time. He had no difficulty ignoring the sound and noise and fury. He’d had a lot of practice.

A Dream, fulfilled, but still a lot to do

I finally took the plunge and decided to compile all my poetry in an easily accessible format. Self-publishing in E-book format with Amazon seemed like the simplest and most efficient way to do this, and I'm fairly pleased with the results. It may not be perfect, but it's a dream fulfilled and it's a good start.

Download early and download often. I hope you enjoy

Of Mysteries and Surprises

The Long Meandering Spring Road to Summer

Lingering self-doubts
Like pockets of unmelted snow
Vanish in the sun
I can feel the sun washing over me
I can see the sun watching over me

Of Forgotten Myths and Warped Legends

Homecoming

Everybody loves you, after
When you’re no longer a threat.
They never much cared for you,
In life – They ridiculed and belittled you,
But – They love you in death.

In Life – they misrepresented you.
In death – They misappropriate you.
They add and subtract,
Chop and change,
Until in death, no one remembers –
What you stood for –  in life.

Nothing can be done about that
That’s the way of this world,
The way of all flesh.
That's just what happens to Legends
When they return home far too soon.

Heavy as Heaven
I write it down, so I don't have to swallow it, so for now, it remains -

Forever yours

Of Faith and Fear

A Hand at the End of the World

In grip of feverish fear, through fuzzy lights
Seen through a black and painted sea,
She waits – For the world, and it’s end.

Her timid hands clasp tight under rocking waves -
as she breathes icicles of cold sea
Still, she waits – For the world, and it’s end.

The distant roar of faint mountain sounds,
Peals of thunder and cracks of lightning abound
As she waits – Far from home
For the world and it’s end.

Alone – She fights her faith and fear
As a ghostly wind howls in blackest night.
She drifts with the gentle caress of waves,
Watched raptly by lurking creatures of deep.

She drifts Into the eye of the storm
With bated breath and eyes shut tight as
She waits – For her world, and its end.

Twinkling stars gaze in dark sorrow at her shadow
She waits – her heart in her hand.
With weary bones – she waits
For the peace of slumber,
and a hand to hold –
At the end of the world.

Faith is fear turned inward

The Hourglass

Of Broken Clocks and Promises
A tale of Broken Time -
Leaving promise unfulfilled,
Spring, departs again
Cries for you and I
I think this qualifies as sufficiently Elegant and Obtuse. When all around you is hyper-real, sometimes...it's better to be misunderstood.
