Day 7 – An Elemental Kind of Rhapsody

Artist: Jupiter One

Song: Unglued

Album: Jupiter One
If mainstream success is the enemy of authenticity, then Jupiter One are perfectly safe. They are almost completely unknown outside the New York Indie Music Scene. They’ve had some success, in particular opening for Regina Spektor during some of her tours, but for the most part, they’ve been under the radar.
Jupiter One is an Indie Rock band formed in Brooklyn in 2003. Their sound is very upbeat and the lead singer, who is both a guitarist and violinist, lends a touch of classical panache to their music. A lot of their songs have been featured in EA games, and that’s how I was first introduced to them and in particular the song ‘Unglued.’ The lyrics are meaningful and the soft hint of a violin in the background adds an extra touch. It’s tied with ‘Platform Moon’ and ‘Turn up the Radio’ for my favourite Jupiter One song, primarily due to their slightly melancholy lyrics masked by the upbeat tune.

Best Lyrics:
Twice in my life I've been sure that
A wall was the edge of the world
