Day 4 – Someday, I’ll be blue

Song: That’ll be the day
Album: That’ll be the day

Artist: Buddy Holly & The Crickets

Only legends die young, and they don’t get much younger than Buddy Holly. Born Charles Hardin Holley, he was an early pioneer of American rock and roll. Like Chuck Berry, he was a great influence on artists that came after him such as the Beatles and Stones. He was very prolific during his tragically short career with the aforementioned ‘That’ll be the day’ being one of his better known songs.
The song itself is a fairly simple ballad, but it’s elevated by his amazing voice and expert guitar work. It had been covered a million times, but nothing beats the original. There’s really not much else to say. He was a legend, taken far too soon. Plus, he had awesome glasses.
Best Lyrics:
When Cupid shot his dart - he shot it at your heart
so if we ever part and I leave you
you sit and hold me and you tell me boldly
that someday well, I
ll be blue
